Beneath the Circle: What’s Really at the Devil’s Tramping Ground?
-In this episode, we’re finally tackling the Devil’s Tramping Ground. One of North Carolina’s most hyped and heavily mythologized paranormal spots. We reserved the site to spend the night during the Lion’s Gate portal, expecting to find the dark, portal-driven energy everyone talks about.
Instead, the land had a completely different story to tell.
We break down what actually happened out there: the history of the Dowd family land, the local revolutionary war ties, and how early settler accounts might have completely misinterpreted native ceremonial grounds. From weird sudden downpours and pack-howling in the woods to deep soil energy pulls and equipment behavior, we’re separating the spiritual footprint of the area from decades of internet clickbait and urban legend.

A small note that needs to be corrected: In The episode I (Megan) says "I looked at a land grant all the way back in the like eighteen hundreds, right?" at around the 07:00 minute mark. I need to correct this because I got a date mixed up. Connor Dowd’s initial land acquisitions, mill operations, and land claims in Chatham County actually began in the late 1700s (specifically the 1770s–1780s, prior to and during the American Revolution), rather than starting in the 1800s. Mary Dowd fought to secure and clear the titles in the years immediately following the Revolution.
